The Information Governance Senior Manager will own the Data Governance Program for Life and Health at Kemper.
The Senior Manager will work with Enterprise Data Governance to help establish and implement a governance framework by developing and evolving policies, processes, procedures, standards, and playbook(s).
We are seeking an energetic, hands-on data professional with strong conceptualization, solution design, and analysis skills, as well as practical experience in establishing and implementing data governance frameworks.
The Senior Manager will partner with IT and business stakeholders to clarify roles & responsibilities, identify and educate business data owners and stewards, and drive adoption of Data Governance processes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates and evolves data governance processes for Life and Health and cascades those throughout the organization Design and implementation of local information processes, including data stewardship, cataloging, data quality, and master data management Provide change management and rollout leadership for governance processes to business areas Understands stakeholders and information experts across L&H to catalog and maintain metadata definitions and quality thresholds; trains business data stewards and creates effective stewardship processes Provision and catalog data assets and critical data elements (including but not limited to asset tagging, glossary management, and lineage) Provide quality rating management through data profiling and data lineage Investigate data quality case management and root cause analysis Research to capture metadata/ lineage collaborating with Business and Technical SMEs Manage preventative and detective controls: develop and manage custom data quality rules, audit compliance to standards/policies, monitor rule execution, act on results MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Data Governance 5-7 years of delivering complex enterprise data solutions (governance, management, quality, analytics, etc.) Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Computer Science, MIS or Business.
In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 8 years related experience required Experience implementing data governance process and procedures across multiple business units with modern environments, Big Data and traditional DW environments supporting Data Governance and master data management principles and techniques Experience with Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) tools for cataloging, DQ, and MDM (Informatica experience a plus) Experience with reference data, master data, data modeling, data analytics, metadata, glossary and data lineage Business and Data Analysis Formulate a deep understanding of opportunities or challenges, translating them into actionable definitions (user stories, use cases, architecture sketches.
processes, etc.) of solution concepts Pro-actively identify and resolve issues and risks through refined or new requirement definitions and/or mitigation plans as definitions are elaborated into working solutions Work with and provide structure to ambiguity, train and bring others along in progressing toward achieving target outcomes Design, document, and establish agreement on solution concepts for complex systems problems using business analysis skills Proven ability to work across departments collaboratively to resolve issues, drive issues to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed Leadership & Communication Able to lead and inspire individuals Interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships, influence, and partner with internal and external stakeholders Ability to span from Executive level to hands-on operators to understand challenges and develop solutions Excellent communication skills with respect to both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels of the organization Collaborative in approach and builds bridges between self and other and amongst others The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
