The primary role of the Sidel Controls Specialist is to provide detailed technical support to beverage and specialty container business unit.
This role will encompass the following tasks specifically but can be called upon to assist in technical matters as deemed necessary by the Asset Excellence Manager.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Detailed diagnostic analysis of Sidel operations equipment Development of preventative and predictive maintenance systems for plant operations Parts list, cost and timeline to complete repair / overhaul of the detailed diagnostic analysis Design and integration of improvements to automated quality inspection systems Provide hands on assistance in the completion of events surrounding the diagnostic analysis Troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and programming issues related to plant operations equipment Identification and interaction with vendors specifically to replace or improve the reliability of OEM equipment utilized by the operations and maintenance team Provide directive on Preventive / Predictive maintenance plan to achieve optimal operational reliability to include scheduling Provide on site, scheduled training on Sidel Blow Molders, preventive and predictive maintenance.
Provide phone support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment Provide on-site after hours support for the plant operations team to assist in troubleshooting / repair of equipment Development of training materials and work instructions to facilitate consistent application of Best Practices Travel to provide project support to various Amcor plants as requested.
Travel to provide emergency support when it is requested.
Work overtime as needed to complete assigned tasks.
Work with the Blow Point Team and the Asset Excellence Manager to develop best practices that will improve safety, quality and increase production.
Work closely with the SCADA Point team to develop and streamline data collection.
Work closely with the Controls Engineering group on developing standards for new equipment

This is to be used as a guideline for the Controls Technician in planning their day to day activities.
Education and Experience: BS in Electrical Technology or Computer Technology or 10 years of manufacturing experience in related field.
Travel 50-75% Physical Requirements: This is a medium physical demand job Lift / push / pull up to 1000 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds).
Maximum frequent lifting weight of 75 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead.
Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet.
Employees are required to stand / walk for minimum of 8 hours per shift on a concrete floor.
Employees must be able to work 8-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays.
Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations.
Prerequisites to be considered for position : Ability to read pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics Ability to review, correctly interpret and modify PLC’s Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage (12 v DC) – high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase) electrical systems Ability to use Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Wonderware software.
Familiar with Beckhoff DATA Acquisition system, and industrial communications (PROFIBUS and PROFINET desired).
Experience with B&R controls and Automation Studio Experience with multiple brands of (HMI) touch screen applications and programming.
Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.
Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment.
Ability to speak, read, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers and vendors, read work instructions, job procedures and manuals, and document information.
Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting / maintenance.
